Food Bank

The West Texas Food Bank held its Annual Culinary Canvas tonight at the Commemorative Air Force Hangar. This unique charity event brings together food, entertainment and art to help alleviate hunger in West Texas. As if catered food from 13 different restaurants was not enough, there was a live auction, a silent auction and a band to keep the guests entertained. All proceeds will go to the West Texas Food Bank. .

Café CaNole culinary creator

It is part art, part science and part intuition. Putting together a delicious meal properly presented is the result of hours of preparation. "If you don't spend the time properly preparing your ingredients before the rush- time, you can't do a good job," said the chef. This intense chef is Jason Waters, the man behind the enjoyable food served at Utica's fine restaurant and unique (Italian pastry) bakery. Watching him ply his craft I spent a fascinating two hours in the kitchen at the Café CaNole. Across the huge kitchen, creating those scrumptious, Italian pastries was Dean Nole, who with his brother Jason own and manage the Café on Culver Avenue and also the Ancora Restaurant on Genesee Street. "I credit Dean and Jason, two of the best chefs in the Utica area, for my success.
